Spin Up’s Opening Series: Where Youth, Purpose, and Social Impact Converge

Jul 1, 2025

Spin Up officially launched its journey with the Opening Series—an inspiring event that sparked meaningful conversations around service learning, social entrepreneurship, and community impact. Bringing together social innovators, youth leaders, and non-profit partners, the series set a clear tone for what Spin Up stands for: action with purpose.

Insights from Social Entrepreneurs

The Opening Series featured engaging lectures and panel discussions led by experienced social entrepreneurs. Mr Theodore Khng (CEO, Theo10) and Spin Up’s founder, Cayden Chik, shared together on building sustainable social initiatives, offering candid reflections on purpose-driven leadership and the realities of execution. Their perspectives were complemented by Ms Li Woon (CEO, Volunteer Switchboard), who highlighted how technology and systems thinking can mobilise volunteerism at scale.

Voices from the Ground: Service Learning Youth

Experienced service learning youths from Project Amica brought a practical, on-the-ground lens to the discussions. Through their personal stories and lessons learned, they illustrated how service learning can be deeply transformative when guided by empathy, consistency, and genuine community engagement.

Community Partners in Action

The presence of non-profit partners, including the Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC) and Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC), grounded the conversations in real-world needs. Their insights underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration in creating sustainable and meaningful solutions.

Looking Ahead

More than just a launch event, the Opening Series marked the beginning of a growing ecosystem of young changemakers. As Spin Up moves forward, the series serves as a reminder that lasting social impact begins when diverse voices come together with a shared commitment—to serve, to innovate, and to uplift our communities.
